It is ABOUT time to change the ways of my life. I have sold the building that I began to build in 2002 to house Superior Coastal Sports. The new owner has rennovated and expanded the place substantially. The new store NOW OPEN. It's called Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply.
I did not sell Superior Coastal Sports and although I do think about continuing to run kayak tours on a small scale with no employees... a mobile just me operation. I am not worrying too much about that at this point.. and the new store does plan to offer kayak tours so I may not bother. No need to decide now. I just finished kayaking the Inside Passage with friends and former employees. Now I plan to just work for someone else.
I have sold most of the boats I used for my tours .. only 2 tandems. remain. I have not made arrangements for anyone to sell them so they are not available until I am back from the kayak trip in mid July. I also have used wetsuits, PFDs, Paddles and other kayak gear that I'll sell very very cheap.. but again you will have to wait until mid July.
If you don’t know who owns Superior Coastal Sports .....I 'm John Amren .. I started Cascade Kayaks in 1992 from property surrounded by Cascade River State Park. I tried to diversify in 2002 with the new building and the name change .. but I should have gone with an even more diversified name..I can asure you.. I did not build the new store to be just a kayak shop... yet I was always called .. 'the kayak shop' That really limited potentially traffic in the store. Either way.. I ran out of money before I was able to reach the planned business diversification?
