It is ABOUT time to change the ways of my life. I closed on the selling of my building. I have a week to move my things out.. I did not sell Superior Coastal Sports.. The website will continue and I have plans to get back to work.. a bit of construction, art, photography, all the things I used to do. That probably includes continuing with guided kayak tours. This time small scale.. just me, a van, trailer, some boats and the website.. more mobile with minimal overhead.. I will be outside and on the water again !!! This won’t be until 2011.. I’ll be kayaking the Inside Passage with friends and former employees until mid July anyway.. When I return, I may offer private kayak instruction for those with their own kayak. I am trying to sell my remaining older boats and will need to replace the fleet if I am to proceed with guided kayak tours in 2011. What do you think? I’d love to hear comments from any previous customers and guides etc..
If you don’t know who owns Superior Coastal Sports .. 
...I'm John Amren .. I started Cascade Kayaks in 1992 from property surrounded by Cascade River State Park. I tried to diversify in 2002 with the new building and the name change .. but I should have gone with an even more diversified name..I can asure you.. I did not build the new store to be just a kayak shop... yet I was always called .. 'the kayak shop' That really limited potentially traffic in the store. Either way.. I ran out of money before I was able to reach the planned business diversification?
If you wonder what will became of the former Superior Coastal Sports building .. I sold it to the folks who own Fall River Trading and I will be highlighting the changes about to take place on The Building page. The name of the new store will be announced soon.
