The Stone's .. who own Fall River Trading .. exclusive U.S. distributor for Langford Canoes . have bought my building. The name of the new store is Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply. The new store is one of many retailers sellling Langford Canoes. The new store also sells kayaks and accessories plus camping gear etc etc.. Vastly increased retail space and selection than the old Superior Coastal Sports .. my store .. Check it out .. I just did and it's really impressive .. NOW OPEN

The sign was installed toward the end of the 03 season. The first 2 summer seasons were without a sign. After the electrician and plumber roughed things in .. I insulated the entire building at the end of the 03 season.. Just in time for winter.
The boiler was first fired up at that point and work continued hanging and taping sheetrock .. This I hired out.. as I stayed ahead of the sheetrockers.. framing the curved shapes down in the store. After living in the construction project and store during those first 2 summers.. and staying in a room at the old East Bay Hotel winters.. I was finally spending my first winter in the building.
The Building has been sold .. By now that is old news I would think?! The name of the new store is Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply Considering the extensive renovations, you likely won't even recognize the old Superior Coastal Sports store. I was going to update this page with photos of these changes but ... no time so for the latest with the new store.. check out their FaceBook Page The retail display footage has been increased substantially. The new store is NOW OPEN.
If you would like to view a slideshow of the early construction progress on the building from 2002 until selling in 2010 .. GO HERE
Eventually... I will use this page to seek work relating to construction which was my occupation prior to starting a kayak business in 1992. For now I will begin with some photos and comments on the earlier progress up to this point of selling the building. 2002 was the first summer with the new space and new name. We managed to get open for business in the portion of the building we referred to as... 'The Box'

Most of the new 3 story building was framed up during the winter of 02-03. I was open for just summers as progress continued and finally things were completed to the extent they were at the time of selling in early 2007 when finally I opened Neptune's CyberCafe open.
I lived in the building as soon as it was 'the box' with winters spent living in a room at the former East Bay Hotel's old section. I did this 2 years ..summers in the building winters in the hotel room.

These were the winters of 01 - 02 and 02 - 03. Finally the heating system was complete and after the season ended, I frantically insulated the entire building as winter approached. Sheet rock contractors followed and I began framing the curved shapes in the lower level as they were finishing the middle apartment.
