From 1992 through 2009 we offered guided kayak tours
After 18 years, I don't miss running my kayak business. Oh, I wouldn't mind just guiding as a job but I sure don't miss the rest of it.. especially the whole retail thing. I'll admit I was out of my element getting into retail like I did. I'm just not much of a capitalist I guess. It's quite a different feel to be to sellling, giving away and tossing the accumulations of one's life.. In preparation of moving toward a liveaboard lifestyle I've contemplated for too long, it's time to lighten the load.
I don't know how many people seeking information on guided kayaking, perhaps former customers, come to this website? Just in case, here's what I know. First, a friend of mine is starting up a business back in Grand Marais..where I ran my business. It sounds like he plans to begin this coming season. This new business is North Shore Expeditions. I'll eventually add a list of links to other options for guided kayaking in the Lake Superior region. If you'd like to submit a link to a business or association of any kind concerning kayaking on or near Lake Superior, please do. Submit Related Link
I did contemplate breifly gearing up to run a small kayak touring biz.. small meaning just me. Didn't take long to decide not to bother. I'd rather just get by on rental income and go on more longer kayak trips like the one back in 2010 .. Kayaking the coast of British Columbia and SE Alaska Once I'm living on a sailboat I suppose I'll not do more than take a spin from the anchored sailboat on the kayak I'll have on board.
