The Sea Caves and Arches along the Palisades of Tettegouche State Park have made this our main full day tour location. Being mobile I can now meet the group at the park.. Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is another location for a full day tour as well at up at the Canadian border launching from the mouth of the Pigeon River and along the very tip of Minnesota's Arrowhead.

If we do rentals at all it would only be to customer's who we had paddled with or know personally. We won't have a physical place.. I don't want to have equipment dropped off at the home. Guided activites are just more the focus with my equipment... It also means I'm outside..
Rates for guided kayak tours are not yet set..but I will post what I anticipate being the new rates. We will no longer have a regular schedule of tours and our maximum will be just 6 people. Full day tours are at the locations mentioned in left column. Half day tours will be from Grand Marais or within 10 miles of Grand Marais. Note that this is for 2011 not this coming summer.

Superior Coastal may have sold it's building but as an entity offering guided kayaking tours, we are alive and healthier than ever. A small scale, mobile operation is being developed.. no more large groups.. no more scheduled tours.. Rates from one person to 6 people .. meeting groups at the tour location .. All trips guided by John .. I'm very excited to be the one out guiding after too many years of running things stuck in the store.
This won't be happening next summer.. I'll be kayaking the Inside Passage with friends and former guides..Dave, Amy and Clayton. I may offer private instruction next summer when I return about mid July. I currently have just 2 double kayaks and one single.. in addition to my boat.. I'll need to replace my fleet .. Likely this will be for the 2011 summer season. Once back in mid July I will offer some private kayak instruction for those with their own kayaks. I have just 2 used double kayaks for sale but if I have not sold them I may offer guided tours for 4 people using the tandems.
Eventually I will have a booking calendar here .. So you can see when I am booked or free to take you kayaking.
